Adnan Sami: Sachin Tendulkar is a poet on the field…

Music director Adnan Sami is on a high these days. For starters, his album with Jermaine Jackson is ready, his son Azaan has made his Bollywood debut and the man has found much stability in his personal life. So as the conches are blowing hard and very much in tune, Adnan is more than happy making people dance to his tunes! However, what he isn’t too happy about is the reaction of some political parties towards Sachin Tendulkar.

When we were chatting with the composer-singer, we casually brushed upon the topic of discrimination. Adnan was once discriminated against for being a Pakistani artist, and now we find discrimination and angst within same communities in our own backyards. Sad but true!

“Whatever is happening is not right. Art in whatever form - music, sports, on canvas, poetry, etc - has no geographical boundaries. Sachin Tendulkar is a poet on the field, and whoever is saying rubbish about him can go and screw himself,” stated Adnan, not quite caring to censor his thoughts. “It’s an honest opinion. It’s time we rise higher than ourselves and give due recognition to people who deserve it instead of running them down!” opined Sami.
