We last saw her playing a vamp in Karzzzz (2008). Since then Urmila Matondkar has been completely missing from Bollywood. Not that the actress has given up on work but she had a more pressing domestic crisis to attend to.
Urmila has been swamped in one family crisis after another. First, her paternal uncle, who had been terminally ill for a while, passed away, leaving her father bereaved. Soon after, her father had a major accident and had to undergo three major surgeries. As though having one ailing parent to attend to was not enough, Urmila’s mother got so stressed with her husband’s condition that she too ended up in the Intensive Care Unit.
Fortunately, her parents are now on the road to recovery. Commenting on the rough phase of life which lasted a few months, Urmila says, “These were terribly tough times but one manages to cope. The strength comes from within. I have survived and learnt a few lessons.”
Now that the worst is over, Urmila is waiting to ignite the big screen again.
