Today, Princess Beatrice seems ready to fight her battles herself.
The young royal donned pink boxing gloves for an energetic workout in the capital’s Green Park, as part of her training for the London marathon in April.
Her royal thigh-ness: Beatrice does some leg-toning squats
Her efforts so far appear to have paid off, as she managed to keep up a grin while sparring with her trainer and doing squats and sit-ups. University student Beatrice, 21, admitted she was driven to tone up after seeing the pictures of herself in a bikini in 2008.
She said she was was ‘terribly upset’ by the public’s reaction, but added: ‘I could probably do with losing the odd pound.’
Flat out? Bea takes a breather
She said: 'It was such an unflattering bikini and I've got one that's so much nicer, so I could have kicked myself for wearing it,' she said. 'I thought people were a bit mean, although I know it comes with the territory.
'The trouble is, I don't have much confidence so it can be quite upsetting. I could probably do with losing the odd pound, though, so perhaps it is the kick I need.'
What a difference: The results of Princess Beatrice's training are clear when compared with that bikini shot
She looked sensational in her £269 brilliant red Marc Jacobs dress, showing off her tiny waist with a large black patent belt.
Of course, she is not the only one in the family to battle with her shape - her mother Sarah Ferguson has endured a life-long struggle to manage weight.
