Jack Nicholson's daughter gets big acting break as friend of teenage surfer who lost her arm in shark attack

Jack Nicholson's daughter is following in his footsteps with a big screen appearance in a biopic about surfer Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm in a shark attack.
Budding actress Lorraine, 19, was spotted filming scenes in a bikini in Hawaii yesterday as shooting began for the new film, Soul Surfer.
She plays best friend Alana Blanchard, who was with Hamilton on the day a 14ft tiger shark ripped her left arm off at her local beach in Kauai.

Hamilton, who was just 13 at the time, will be played by rising Hollywood star Anna Sophia Robb while Sean Brosnan, actor Pierce Brosnan's son, will play her brother Noah.

Just three weeks after the incident, Hamilton returned to the water and went surfing again.

Now 19, Hamilton decided she will step in to film some post-attack surfing and stunt scenes in the move
'They wanted a one-armed person doing it and that's not easy to find,' says Hamilton, who competed in the Billabong world junior surfing championships in Sydney last month.

'I'm excited about the role.
'But it will be intense seeing people playing my family and me.'
It is Lorraine's biggest film role to date - she has made previous bit-part appearances in films including Click and The Princess Diaries 2.
She also made a blink-and-you'll-miss it turn in her father's huge 2003 hit Something's Gotta Give.
